This serves as a point of reference based on which road distance is measured. On October 1 st 1965, the new Riga Central Railway Post Office building was opened in the Station Square. The Riga Central Post Office’s administrative building was also located at Station Square 1, which became the reference point for the City of Riga, when measuring the distance of any other urban area.
