Linstow Center Management in collaboration with Apeirons has made significant improvements in environment accessibility
instow Center Management (LCM), the operator of five Galactico shopping centres, Alfa, Mols, Dole, Origo and Galerija Centrs, in collaboration with Apeirons, Union of People with Disabilities and their Friends, has made significant improvements in environment accessibility in all shopping centres.
“We care about our customer conveniences and environment accessibility for all groups of people and therefore, in collaboration with Apeirons, Union of People with Disabilities and their Friends, we have completed Galactico shopping centres audit. Purpose of the audit was to evaluate accessibility and necessity to improve direction signs as to accessibility for people with mobility impairments and parents with prams. We are truly satisfied that we have managed to successfully implement this project within quite a short period of time, making our shopping centres even easier accessible,” says Evija Majevska, Commercial Director of Shopping Centres, SIA Linstow Center Management.
Ivars Balodis, chairman of the board, Apeirons, Union of People with Disabilities and their Friends, “Improvement of environment accessibility is not a mandatory precondition for operation of a facility. This is why we are double happy that LCM has shown its responsibility, introduced all our recommendations, eliminated and improved technical nuances to improve environment accessibility in buildings. We are happy indeed that there are companies in Latvia that pay more attention to customer conveniences than required by law. Lately, environment accessibility in public places has been undergoing considerable improvement and this is largely due to people and companies that are concerned about this topic and are ready to improve the situation. It is of particular importance for integration of people with mobility impairments in the society, as shopping centres have become an integral part of our everyday life and it is good that people can feel at ease, shop and move around the shopping centres without the help of others. We are truly gratified by our cooperation with LCM as we are certain that this is the only cooperation model that can bring good results and make the surrounding environment more comfortable for every user.”
Under the project, mobility in shopping centres has been improved: parking places have been moved, ramps improved and, wherever necessary, handrails installed, WCs for people with mobility impairment have been improved and modernised, direction signs regarding environment availability to bypass obstacles, such as stairs, escalators, doorsteps, etc., have been improved. Renovated nursing rooms offer possibility to feed and nurse babies. These rooms are accessible for prams and can accommodate parents with children.
Concurrently with improvement of environment accessibility, LCM has made considerable improvements to the customer services gathering them all under the Galactico Services standard. Galactico Services is a uniform service quality standard in all five Galactico shopping centres aimed at provision of convenient and pleasant shopping experience.
All in all Galactico Services offers over 30 diverse services focused on customer convenience, such as nursing rooms, mobile phone charging points, disabled WCs, first-aid rooms, interactive lounge areas, order a taxi, sending of fax, copying and scanning services, extended working hours of banks, free WiFi, umbrella rent, interactive navigation stands, mobile app, electromobile charging point (Origo), umbrella bags (Galerija Centrs), shop mobility trolleys (Mols and Alfa), etc.
