In the summer of 2017, construction of the expansion project of Origo Shopping Centre started at Satekles iela 2b (previous address – Stacijas laukums 1). In March of 2020, the new Origo building was completed and opened for business. Meanwhile, reconstruction of the existing “A” building of Origo continues and is planned to be complete in autumn 2020. Within the framework of this project Origo has received a substantial increase in commercial area, improved aesthetic quality and convenience for its clients, and also Origo One Business Centre has been constructed with class A offices.
The first three floors house a wide range of shops and services, while the upper three floors are used for Origo One class A business centre. Offices are designed according to the individual needs of the tenants. For the convenience of visitors and employees, two interconnected, spacious car and bicycle parking areas are located in the underground level of the new building, in addition to the existing Origo car park under the Station Square.
The new Origo building is energy-efficient, friendly towards nature and people, in line with the BREEAM certificate (British Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method), which is awarded to sustainable buildings. Both the shopping centre and the office centre received BREEAM certificates with an “excellent” rating already in the design stage in 2019.
To improve the traffic flow, road safety and increase the level of comfort for all traffic participants, especially pedestrians and cyclists, Linstow Center Management reconstructed the nearby intersection of Elizabetes and Satekles streets. The reconstruction is nearing completion — the new traffic lights system is operational since 3 March, road signs have been adjusted, a pedestrian island has been built on Satekles Street, as well as a new lane for a public transport stop and improved pavements around the intersection, including tactile paving, improved horizontal markings and a bicycle lane across Satekles Street.
For the convenience of visitors, the main entrance of the new Origo building faces this intersection.
